Meet Brittney Klasic

The Start

Brittney Klasic is an FEI Dressage trainer based in Rancho Santa Fe, California. She began riding at 9 years-old in Arizona, under the guidance of Dorie and Uli Schmitz. Within a few short years, she earned her USDF Bronze Medal riding her horse, Wadi Draa (Emile). Brittney continued successfully into the FEI arena as a teenager, where she earned a spot on the Region 5 NAJRC team in 2008 - winning team gold.

As Brittney's success grew nationally, she accepted a working student position at Arroyo Del Mar working for Steffen and Shannon Peters. She was surrounded by top level talent for three years, which led to her receiving her USDF Silver Medal. After working with multiple performance level horses, she developed her unique feel for training; a supple, responsive, and happy horse. Brittney appreciates that each horse has his/her own personality. She will create a positive training program unique to you and your horse.

Brittney has had the pleasure of working with some of the best trainers in the business and she continues her own education under Sabine Schut-Kery and attending local dressage clinics.

Brittney's business is located in Rancho Santa Fe, California out of Rancho Cielo Equestrian Center. Please feel free to contact her with any questions about training or lessons.

Brittney also enjoys integrating the basics of Dressage to help horses and riders improve their standings in the hunter / jumper ring.

Training With Brittney

Brittney creates a specialized routine for every horse that comes to train and for their riders, whether they are young or adult amateurs! She focuses on the needs of both horse and rider to create a happy partnership and help them achieve their goals. She encourages riders to treat and think of themselves as athletes, as well as their horses. Brittney will help further riders’ education by recommending outside activities (i.e: attending / auditing clinics) aside from what is offered at the barn.

Training with Brittney, you will always be around a friendly, supportive and happy team. Brittney loves to teach not only the “how to’s” of riding Dressage, but the “why’s” and the benefits of each exercise. She strives to communicate each aspect clearly, and will discover different ways to explain difficult concepts. She pushes each rider to achieve correct positioning and an effective seat on the horse, and to be a respectful horse person in the saddle and on the ground.

Brittney believes and follows the classical Dressage training scale and aims to have each horse happy, willing and relaxed in their work. She understands that each horse learns differently and does not push if the horse is uncomfortable in their work or not ready to go further. She fully believes that adding variety in their weekly routine is important for a horse’s mental health by incorporating cavalettis, jumping, long lining or trail riding. For Brittney, the horse and their well-being always comes first.
